Last updated: Oct 19, 2026

The biggest change this week is on Poshmark: starting October 19, 2026, sellers pay the full $50 USPS hazmat noncompliance fee when USPS flags a package, up from $5. Mercari also changed its prepaid label prices on October 19, with Ground Advantage labels going up and Media Mail going down, while its 10% selling fee stayed the same. Two more shipping changes follow soon: Poshmark starts deducting label upgrade costs on heavy packages on October 26, and Whatnot starts charging U.S. sellers for USPS weight adjustments on November 4. Below is every recent fee and policy change on the seven marketplaces Sidekick Tools crosslists to, by platform and by date, with a link to the official source for each one.

How we keep this page accurate

Every line in the tables below links to the platform’s own help center, fee page, policy page or official blog. If a detail only showed up in news coverage or forums, we left it out or said so plainly where it is not confirmed. When the date or number in a news story didn’t match the platform’s page, we went with the platform.

We re-check these pages when a platform announces something and at least once a month. If you spot something that changed before we did, the platform’s own page wins. Fee pages get edited quietly, so always confirm before you reprice a big batch of listings.

The quick version: what changed in the last few months

If you only have a minute, these are the changes most likely to touch your payouts right now:

  • Poshmark, Oct 19, 2026: sellers are responsible for the full $50 USPS hazmat noncompliance fee on flagged packages. Full details in our USPS hazmat fee guide.
  • Poshmark, Oct 26, 2026 (upcoming): if you ship a package over 5 lb without upgrading the label, Poshmark will deduct the upgrade cost from your earnings. See Poshmark’s heavy package rule.
  • Whatnot, Nov 4, 2026 (upcoming): weight-based USPS carrier adjustments on Whatnot labels will be charged to sellers for shipments sent from that date. See Whatnot’s fee changes explained.
  • Mercari, Oct 19, 2026: new prepaid label prices for new and existing listings. The 1 lb Ground Advantage Best rate goes from $7.48 to $7.99. See Mercari’s October 2026 shipping rate change.
  • Mercari, Nov 5, 2026 (upcoming): updated Terms of Service are set to take effect, with changes to Section 22 on arbitration.
  • Whatnot, Sep 21, 2026: commission now depends on your sales over the last four weeks. The Premier Shop discount is set to end Nov 1. See Whatnot’s tiered commission explained.
  • Mercari, Sep 1, 2026: sellers pay $25 of the $50 hazmat fee on flagged packages.
  • Grailed, May 20, 2026: 6% commission (minimum $1.99) on sales under $120. See Grailed’s lower fee on sales under $120.
  • eBay, fall 2026: the seller currency conversion charge for U.S. sellers is now 3.25%, up from 3%.

Poshmark fee and policy changes

Poshmark’s selling fee hasn’t moved this year. Poshmark’s seller updates page states a flat $2.95 on sales under $15 and 20% on sales of $15 or more for U.S. sellers (Poshmark Seller Updates). Most of the 2026 changes have been about shipping.

Oct 26, 2026If a package over 5 lb ships without a label upgrade, the upgrade cost is deducted from seller earnings: $5.00 for 5.01 to 10 lb, $10.00 for 10.01 to 15 lb. Over 15 lb on one label: $15.00 for 15.01 to 25 lb, full USPS cost over 25 lb. Poshmark previously covered this cost. Upgrade prices are unchanged.Poshmark Blog, Oct 8, 2026

Feb 13, 2026Heavier package upgrades simplified: $5.00 for 5.1 to 10 lb, a new $10.00 tier for 10.1 to 15 lb. The old 6 to 10 lb system had five tiers costing up to $22.50. Seller pays only the difference.Poshmark Blog, Feb 13, 2026

The hazmat change is the one to act on today, and the heavy package change follows a week later on October 26. If you sell coats, boots or bundles, our post on Poshmark’s heavy package rule covers the weight bands and how to upgrade a label. The most common trigger, according to Poshmark, is a reused box that still has an old hazmat label or the small black-and-white “Limited Quantity” diamond on it. Our USPS hazmat fee guide walks through how to check a box before you ship it. You can also run your numbers with the free Poshmark fee calculator or read our Poshmark shipping guide.

eBay fee and policy changes

eBay’s basic final value fee for most categories is 13.6% of the total amount of the sale up to $7,500, plus a per order fee of $0.30 for orders of $10 or less and $0.40 for orders over $10 (eBay Help: Selling fees). That page also lists a 1.65% international fee when you don’t use eBay International Shipping and the buyer or delivery address is outside the U.S.

Between Aug 21 and Oct 19, 2026Seller currency conversion charge for U.S.-registered sellers went from 3% to 3.25%. It only applies when eBay converts funds for a listing or sale on another eBay site.Current: eBay Help: Selling fees. Prior 3%: archived copy of the same page, Aug 21, 2026

If you only sell on eBay.com in U.S. dollars, the conversion change doesn’t affect you. It matters if you list on eBay.co.uk, eBay.de or other eBay sites.

On the USPS hazmat fee, we could not find an official eBay page that says how eBay passes the $50 charge through on eBay labels. For fee math, use the free eBay fee calculator.

Mercari fee and policy changes

Mercari’s selling fee is 10% of the item price plus buyer-paid shipping, and buyers pay a 3.6% Buyer Protection fee on the same base. Direct deposit cash-outs are free and Instant Pay is $3 per transfer (Mercari Help: Fees on Mercari). None of that changed on October 19. What changed is the price of Mercari’s prepaid shipping labels.

Because the 10% fee is charged on buyer-paid shipping too, a higher label price also nudges your fee up a few cents when the buyer pays shipping. The full before and after table is in our post on Mercari’s October 2026 shipping rate change. For your own numbers, try the free Mercari fee calculator or our Mercari seller fees guide.

Depop fee and policy changes

U.S. sellers on Depop pay no selling fee. They do pay a payment processing fee of 3.3% + $0.45 through Depop Payments, charged on the item price plus shipping and any taxes (Depop Help: Seller fees and charges).

The boost fee is only charged when a boosted listing sells, and it’s charged on the sale price (plus shipping if you don’t use a Depop label). If you boost a lot, the jump from 8% to 12% on new listings is worth a look. We haven’t found a Depop fee change in the last six months beyond this. For the math, use the free Depop fee calculator or our Depop fees guide.

Grailed fee and policy changes

Grailed cut its commission on lower priced sales this spring. Sales under $120 now pay 6% with a $1.99 minimum, and sales of $120 and up still pay 9% (Grailed Help: What are the fees?). Payment processing is separate: 3.49% + $0.49 for U.S. domestic payments if you’re onboarded with Stripe (Grailed Help: Does Grailed charge a payment processing fee?).

May 20, 2026Commission on sales under $120 drops from 9% to 6%, with a $1.99 minimum. Sales of $120 and above stay at 9%. If you use a Grailed Label, the fee is based on the listing price only.Grailed Help: What are the fees?. Prior flat 9%: archived copy, Nov 6, 2025

The $1.99 minimum means very cheap items can actually cost a little more than before. We walk through that, plus the price cliff at $120, in Grailed’s lower fee on sales under $120. You can also check our Grailed fees guide and the free Grailed fee calculator.

Whatnot fee and policy changes

Whatnot charges commission on the item price only, not on buyer-paid shipping or tax, and payment processing is separate at 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction in the U.S. (Whatnot Help: Whatnot seller fees). The big 2026 change is that the commission rate now depends on how much you sold in the previous four weeks.

Most part-time sellers will stay at the standard 8% rate, since Tier 1 needs $15,000 in a single four-week window. The November 4 change matters to more sellers: if a packed box weighs more than its Whatnot USPS label says, USPS’s charge for the difference now lands on your ledger. You get 45 days from the charge date to appeal through Seller Hub, and USPS decides the outcome. The full rate card, examples and carrier adjustment details are in Whatnot’s tiered commission explained. See also our Whatnot fees guide and the free Whatnot fee calculator.

Etsy fee and policy changes

Etsy’s core fees are a $0.20 USD listing fee per listing and a 6.5% transaction fee on the total order amount, including shipping and gift wrap you charge. Payment processing is extra and the rate depends on your country (Etsy Help: Etsy Fee Basics).

The USPS changes behind several of these

A few of this year’s marketplace changes trace back to USPS. On July 12, 2026, USPS started charging a $50 hazmat noncompliance fee on commercial shipments that are improperly declared, improperly labeled or otherwise don’t meet its hazmat rules. It also charges a hazmat handling fee on properly declared hazmat packages: $0 for Ground Advantage and $7.50 for Priority Mail and Priority Mail Express (USPS: Shipping Restrictions & HAZMAT).

A later Postal Bulletin notice says USPS assesses the noncompliance fee through its Census and Automated Package Verification processes, and that hazmat fees won’t be assessed on USPS Returns service pieces until February 1, 2027 (USPS Postal Bulletin: DMM Revision, Hazmat Handling and Noncompliance Fees).

When you ship on a marketplace label, the marketplace decides how much of that charge reaches you. That’s why Poshmark and Mercari sellers see different amounts for the same flagged box. Whatnot’s help center says it covers adjustments for incorrect hazmat labeling on its labels for the time being (Whatnot Help: Review and appeal carrier adjustments).

What this means for crosslisters

If you list the same item on several of these apps, a fee change on one of them changes which sale is worth the most to you. A few practical things to do this week:

  • Check your reused boxes before anything else. On Poshmark a flagged box now costs $50, and on Mercari it costs $25. A new poly mailer is cheaper than either.
  • Recheck Mercari shipping on small items. Ground Advantage Best labels went up between 33 cents and 66 cents at the 0.25 lb to 1 lb weights. If you offer free shipping, your margin just got thinner.
  • Weigh heavy packages after packing. On Poshmark, a box over 5 lb shipped without an upgrade now costs you the upgrade anyway, and on Whatnot an underweight USPS label leads to a charge from November 4.
  • Look at your Grailed prices near $120. A $119 sale pays 6%, a $120 sale pays 9%.
  • Don’t count on Whatnot tier rates unless you’re already near $15,000 a month. Price with the 8% standard rate in mind.
  • Keep one source of truth for each listing. When you change a price to account for fees, the change should reach every marketplace where the item is listed.

Sidekick Tools is crosslisting software built for this kind of upkeep. You can list once and send the listing to Poshmark, eBay, Mercari, Depop, Grailed, Whatnot and Etsy, then edit from one place. See how it works, compare plans and pricing, or read about the Poshmark bot for sharing and other Poshmark automation. If you want to compare payouts across apps side by side, the free marketplace fee calculator is a good place to start.

Frequently asked questions

What marketplace fee changes start on October 19, 2026?

Two changes start on October 19, 2026. Poshmark sellers become responsible for the full $50 USPS hazmat noncompliance fee when USPS flags a package, up from $5. Mercari switches to new prepaid label prices for new and existing listings, with Ground Advantage going up at most weights and Media Mail going down.

Did Mercari raise its selling fee in October 2026?

No. Mercari’s selling fee is still 10% of the item price plus buyer-paid shipping, and the Buyer Protection fee paid by buyers is still 3.6%. The October 19 change is to prepaid shipping label prices. Because the 10% fee includes buyer-paid shipping, a higher label price can raise the fee by a few cents when the buyer pays shipping.

Which platforms charge sellers for the USPS hazmat fee?

Based on official pages, Poshmark sellers pay the full $50 per flagged package from October 19, 2026, and Mercari sellers pay $25 of the $50 for packages postmarked from September 1, 2026. Whatnot says it covers adjustments for incorrect hazmat labeling on its labels for the time being. We did not find an official statement from eBay, Depop, Grailed or Etsy on how they handle the fee on their own labels. If you buy your own commercial postage, USPS assesses the fee to you as the mailer.

What are Poshmark’s selling fees in 2026?

Poshmark charges U.S. sellers a flat $2.95 on sales under $15 and 20% on sales of $15 or more. There are no listing fees or monthly fees. Shipping changes this year include cheaper heavy package upgrades from February 13, 2026, the hazmat fee changes from July through October 2026, and earnings deductions for heavy packages shipped without an upgrade from October 26, 2026.

What shipping changes are coming after October 19, 2026?

Poshmark starts deducting the label upgrade cost from seller earnings on October 26, 2026 when a package over 5 lb ships without an upgrade. Whatnot starts charging U.S. sellers for weight-based USPS carrier adjustments on Whatnot labels for shipments sent on or after November 4, 2026. Mercari’s updated Terms of Service take effect November 5, 2026.

Is the eBay currency conversion charge increase confirmed?

Yes for the rate. eBay’s official selling fees page now lists a 3.25% seller currency conversion charge for U.S.-registered sellers, and an archived copy from August 21, 2026 shows 3%. eBay’s page does not state the exact effective date, so we can only confirm that the change happened between August 21 and October 19, 2026.
