Poshmark Selling Fees: How Much Does Poshmark Take from Sales?

Poshmark Selling Fees

You sold a top on Poshmark, celebrated the sale, and then checked your balance. The payout is smaller than you expected, and the Poshmark selling fees seem higher than what you thought.

That surprise is common for sellers because Poshmark doesn’t charge the same selling fee on every sale. The fee Poshmark charges from sellers varies significantly, depending on the item’s sale price and the shipping fee you cover.

So, how much does Poshmark take from sales?

Well, in this guide, we’ll discuss all the fees associated with selling on Poshmark, be it the listing fee, commission fee, shipping fee, payment withdrawal fee, sales tax, Posh Authenticate fee, or Promoted Closet fee.

So, let’s begin.

Does Poshmark Charge a Fee to Sell?

Yes, Poshmark charges a fee when you make a sale. It takes the fee from the final order price, so you never pay it up front.

Poshmark’s selling fee not only includes the commission fee, but it also includes fees for card processing, customer support, and Posh Protect (Poshmark’s buyer protection program).

Also, Poshmark doesn’t charge sellers a separate payment processing fee, unlike Depop and Etsy.

Does Poshmark Charge a Fee to List Items?

No, Poshmark does not charge a fee to list items. Listing items on Poshmark is free, and there is no monthly subscription to keep your Poshmark closet active.

That makes unsold items cheap to hold on Poshmark. A slow item will only cost you storage space and time, not a recurring fee.

Still, free listing on Poshmark doesn’t mean every price makes sense. The minimum selling price on Poshmark is $3, and even a $3 sale will leave you with just $0.05 after the $2.95 commission fee.

Poshmark Selling Fees

In the US, Poshmark charges sellers a flat selling fee of $2.95 for items sold for less than $15.

For items sold at $15 or more, Poshmark takes a 20% commission fee, while sellers keep the remaining 80% of the sale price.

In Canada, Poshmark charges a flat fee of C$3.95 for items sold for less than C$20.

For items sold for C$20 or more, Poshmark charges a 20% commission, and sellers keep the remaining 80%.

The same selling fee applies to Posh Show sales, so live selling doesn’t change the selling fee on Poshmark.

Selling Fee for Poshmark Bundles

Poshmark charges the same selling fee for bundle orders as it does for individual item sales.

However, the selling fee is calculated based on the total final selling price of the bundle, not the original price of each individual listing.

For example, if a buyer purchases three items from your Posh closet for a combined price of $50, Poshmark will deduct a 20% commission ($10), leaving you with $40 in earnings.

Here’s how the selling fee will be calculated for different Poshmark bundles.

Five $10 items$14.75$10.00$4.75
Two $30 items$12.00$12.00$0

The last row is the part most Poshmark sellers miss. Items priced at $15 or more save you nothing in Poshmark selling fees when bundled, because 20% is still 20%.

Poshmark Shipping Fee

Poshmark charges a standard flat-rate shipping fee of $6.49 paid by the buyer for orders up to 5 lbs.

Poshmark emails sellers a prepaid USPS Ground Advantage label. So, on a standard order up to 5 lbs, sellers pay nothing for Poshmark shipping.

Sellers only have to pay the shipping fee for orders up to 5 lbs on Poshmark when they offer a shipping discount or free shipping.

Offering free shipping on Poshmark is a good gesture, but it hits harder than most sellers expect.

Poshmark will still take its full selling fee, and you then have to cover all $6.49 of the shipping label from your pocket.

In Canada, Poshmark offers two shipping options, and the buyer pays the shipping cost plus tax:

1. Canada Post Home Delivery: C$12.49 plus tax, delivered to buyer’s address.

2. Purolator Pick Up: C$6.99 plus tax and requires pick up from a Purolator location. This cheaper option is only available if the Poshmark seller has turned it on, and it may depend on the location.

Avoidable Shipping Charges on Poshmark

Priority Mail Packaging Fee

This $5 fee applies when a Poshmark seller ships an order in USPS Priority Mail packaging but uses a Ground Advantage label.

Priority Mail boxes are meant only for Priority Mail shipments, so USPS may reject the package or send it back to you. Poshmark also takes $5 from your earnings as a penalty.

To avoid the charge, ship your items in a plain, unbranded box. You can also order free Ground Advantage shipping supplies through Poshmark.

USPS HAZMAT Non-Compliance Fee

Starting October 19, 2026, Poshmark passes the full $50 USPS HAZMAT Non-Compliance Fee to sellers by deducting it from their earnings whenever USPS flags a package.

USPS HAZMAT Non-Compliance Fee on Poshmark

The most common cause is reused packaging. If an old box or mailer still shows a hazardous materials label, lithium battery symbol, or diamond-shaped warning, USPS may flag it, even if you’re only shipping clothes or shoes.

Poshmark sellers can also be charged for shipping lithium battery electronics or restricted goods without the required surface-transport labels.

Poshmark Shipping Label Upgrade Fee

As we discussed earlier, the shipping fee for packages up to 5 lbs on Poshmark is paid by the buyer. But what if the package weight is more than 5 lbs?

Well, in that case, the seller must upgrade her shipping label, or the extra shipping cost will be automatically deducted from her Poshmark earnings.

Here are Poshmark’s shipping label upgrade fee tiers for packages weighing more than the standard 5 lbs limit.

Poshmark Payment Withdrawal Fee

While there is no payment processing fee on Poshmark, there is a payment withdrawal fee that you need to pay every time you withdraw funds from your Poshmark account balance.

You can withdraw your Poshmark earnings once they become redeemable, which happens after the buyer accepts the order or 3 days after delivery if no case is opened.

Poshmark offers multiple payment withdrawal options; some of them are free, while others charge you a fee whenever you withdraw money using them.

Poshmark Sales Tax

Buyers pay sales tax on Poshmark, not sellers. Poshmark calculates, collects, and sends it to the state under its Posh Remit program.

The sales tax is added to the Poshmark buyer’s total, so it doesn’t come out of a Poshmark seller’s earnings.

Federal and state income tax on your profitYouYou
Self-employment tax, if you run a businessYouYou

Poshmark determines sales tax based on the buyer’s shipping address, and the selling fee doesn’t have an impact because of it.

It’s also important to understand that sales tax is different from income tax.

Poshmark’s sales tax handling doesn’t cover the income tax you may owe on profits. Your selling fees are generally deductible if you run a business, so keep good records.

In 2026, the federal Form 1099-K threshold for third-party payment networks is more than $20,000 and more than 200 transactions, though some states set lower limits.

Note: This is general information, so check with a tax professional about your situation.

Posh Authenticate Fee

Poshmark does not charge a fee for Posh Authenticate. It is a free authentication service for both buyers and sellers on Poshmark.

To qualify for Posh Authenticate, an item must be listed and sold for $500 or more in the US and C$700 or more in Canada.

However, not every item priced at $500 or more qualifies for Posh Authenticate. The authentication service covers selected luxury items and excludes items in the Electronics, Home, Pets, Toys, and Games categories.

Poshmark Promoted Closet Fee

Promoted Closet is a paid marketing tool by Poshmark with no set price per sale. You choose a weekly budget, and Poshmark charges you per click up to that limit.

This cost comes on top of your selling fee, not instead of it. A promoted item that sells for $40 still pays the $8 selling fee, plus whatever the clicks cost.

Usually, it costs $0.06 to $0.09 per click when you use Promoted Closet.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Does Poshmark take a percentage of the sale?

Yes. Poshmark takes 20% of the sale price on sales of $15 or more, so the seller keeps 80%. On sales under $15, Poshmark charges a flat $2.95 instead of a percentage.

Listing an item on Poshmark is free, and sellers pay only when it sells. Poshmark’s commission fee is based on the final agreed price, not the original listing price, and doesn’t apply to the shipping charge paid by the buyer.

How much does Poshmark take from a $100 sale?

Poshmark takes $20 from a $100 sale, leaving the seller with $80. That is the standard 20% commission for sales of $15 or more. It already includes the payment processing fee, so there is no separate processing fee.

If a Poshmark seller offers a shipping discount or free shipping, that cost is also deducted from her earnings.

Is it cheaper to sell on Poshmark or eBay?

Selling on eBay is usually cheaper, especially on items priced around $50 or more.

eBay charges most sellers a final value fee of 13.6% of the total sale, plus a per-order fee of $0.40 on orders over $10 or $0.30 on orders of $10 or less. The total includes shipping charged to the buyer and sales tax.

Poshmark, on the other hand, charges 20% on sales of $15 or more and a flat $2.95 selling fee for sales under $15.

For a $100 item with $8 buyer-paid shipping and 8% sales tax, eBay’s fee is about $16.26, compared with $20 on Poshmark.

However, the gap will disappear on cheaper items. For a $25 item with the same shipping and tax rate, eBay’s fee is about $5.25, while Poshmark’s is $5.00.

Some eBay categories also have different selling fees. Women’s bags and handbags are charged 15% on sales of $2,000 or less, while athletic shoes selling for $150 or more are charged 8% with no per-order fee.

Is it expensive to sell on Poshmark?

Selling on Poshmark is free to start but can be expensive per sale compared with eBay.

It has no listing fees or monthly subscriptions, but its fee is $2.95 on sales under $15 and 20% on sales of $15 or more.

Poshmark’s flat fee hits cheap items hardest: it equals 29.5% of a $10 sale and 59% of a $5 sale.

Poshmark buyers have to pay the $6.49 standard shipping fee for packages up to 5 lbs, which helps keep the seller’s costs predictable.

Poshmark is generally better suited to items priced at $15 or more, and bundling cheaper items means the selling fee is charged once on the combined total.

Why is Poshmark charging me $10?

You are likely being charged $10 on Poshmark because of an active Promoted Closet subscription, which charges a $10 weekly fee after a free trial period.
